Support that hits home in long-term care

Four local long-term care facilities will benefit from this investment

The Ontario government is investing more than $147,000 to support long-term care homes in Leeds and Grenville through the Local Priorities Fund (LPF). The funding is part of a $35 million provincial initiative aimed at enhancing care for residents with complex medical needs.

In the 2024-25 fiscal year, four local long-term care facilities will benefit from this investment: Sherwood Park Manor received $49,897, Wellington House received $39,181, Carveth Care Centre was allocated $30,837, and Southbridge Kemptville received $27,683.

The LPF helps long-term care homes acquire specialized equipment, enhance services, and provide staff training, allowing them to better support both new and existing residents with complex health needs. Items funded through the program include medical equipment such as IV systems, bladder scanners, ECGs, and bariatric supports, as well as safety enhancements like slip-proof floor mats, bed rails, and grab bars.

This funding aims to reduce emergency department visits and hospital stays by improving the ability of long-term care homes to manage residents' care on-site. The initiative aligns with Ontario’s broader plan to improve long-term care through improved staffing, infrastructure upgrades, better care standards, and more integrated health services for seniors across the province.
