William Street bridge reopens after major rehab but drivers warned of lane closures

The main artery had been closed since February

The William Street overpass in Brockville is officially open after months of construction and detours.

City officials say the bridge, located at the base of Stewart Boulevard, has reopened to traffic following an extensive rehabilitation project.

The work caused disruptions for drivers throughout the summer, but crews from KB Civil and HP Engineering completed the job ahead of schedule.

While the overpass is open, lane closures will continue at times over the coming days and weeks.

City staff say this is needed for final cleanup, road paving between Front Avenue and Pearl Street West, and other finishing work.

Motorists are being asked to stay alert for signage and workers until the project is fully wrapped up.

Officials thanked residents for their patience and praised crews and staff for their efforts in completing the work safely.
