This Sunday
The Brockville Fire Department is reminding residents to test their smoke alarms this Sunday (Sep. 28) as part of the annual Saved By The Beep campaign.
Chief Fire Prevention Officer Matt Tyo highlighted just how often people should be changing the batteries in their smoke alarms
He gave a recommendation that could prove valuable.
Tyo explained that taking just a few minutes each month to check smoke alarms can mean the difference between life and death.
The province-wide Saved By The Beep movement encourages everyone to take the pledge to test their alarms regularly.
The campaign also offers teachers, parents and fire services free resources to share the message.
