The event was at the Brockville Legion
More than 1,100 years of community service combined were celebrated as volunteers from Leeds, Grenville and Lanark were honoured at the Ontario Volunteer Service Awards.
Minister Graham McGregor, MPP Steve Clark, and MPP John Jordan joined local leaders and community members for the ceremony, hosted at Brockville Legion Branch 96.
Matt Wren, Mayor of Brockville, and Gauri Shankar, Mayor of Prescott, were among those who attended the event, which recognized volunteers who help make their communities strong and vibrant.
Organizers praised the dedication and countless hours contributed by award recipients across a wide range of local organizations.
Residents and community groups are being encouraged to nominate volunteers for next year’s awards before the November 15 deadline.
