Brian Purcell
Longtime business owner and community leader Brian Purcell has been named the 2025 recipient of the Bill Thake Memorial Award for Economic Development Leadership.
Purcell, co-owner of James Purcell Insurance Broker Ltd., has spent nearly three decades building his business in downtown Spencerville while supporting countless community initiatives across Leeds and Grenville.
“This is a great honour to be recognized by my peers,” said Purcell. “Bill Thake’s example reminds us that volunteering and caring about your community are at the heart of true economic development.”
Known for his involvement with the Spencerville Mill Foundation, Optimist Club, and local fire department, Purcell has been praised for helping strengthen both community and economic growth.
He will be officially recognized during the Leeds Grenville Economic Development Summit on November 21 at the North Grenville Municipal Centre in Kemptville. More information and registration details are available at invest.leedsgrenville.com/summit2025.
