Shocking late-night crashes lead to multiple impaired driving charges in Brockville

Nov. 23 at 1:30 a.m. and 9:15 p.m.

The Brockville Police Service has laid charges in two separate impaired driving incidents on November 23, raising new concerns about road safety in the community.

Around 1:30 a.m., officers saw a vehicle speeding and swerving on Stewart Boulevard. Police stopped the car and determined the 48-year-old male driver had been drinking. A roadside test registered a fail, and officers also seized cocaine during a search. Further testing at the station showed he was over the legal alcohol limit. His vehicle was impounded, his license suspended and he now faces charges that include impaired operation, driving with more than 80 milligrams of alcohol in his blood and possession of cocaine.

Later that day, around 9:15 p.m., police responded to a crash at Kensington Parkway and Centennial Road. A vehicle failed to stop at a sign and landed in a ditch. Officers found a 30-year-old woman nearby who failed her roadside test. She was arrested, her vehicle impounded and her license suspended. She was released with conditions and a future court date.
