Seek shelter right away if the sky looks dangerous
Environment Canada has issued a severe thunderstorm watch for several eastern Ontario communities, including Brockville, Prescott, Kemptville, Merrickville-Wolford, Gananoque, Charleston Lake, Westport and Mallorytown.
Forecasters say conditions are right for severe thunderstorms this afternoon and evening. The main threats are wind gusts reaching 90 kilometres per hour and heavy rain.
Residents are urged to take precautions. Emergency Management Ontario advises people to seek shelter right away if the sky looks dangerous.
A severe thunderstorm watch means storms may develop that can bring damaging wind, heavy rain, or hail.
Environment Canada encourages the public to stay updated through official weather alerts and to report any severe conditions to ONstorm@ec.gc.ca or by posting on X with #ONStorm.
