Quick response saves life during overdose in Brockville

It happened on Aug. 4

Brockville Police officers and staff from Lanark Leeds Grenville Mental Health and Addictions are being credited with saving a man’s life during an apparent overdose on August 4.

Around noon, officers were at the agency’s location at 25 Front Avenue when they were alerted to a man in medical distress. Staff were already performing CPR when police arrived. Officers took over CPR and ensured Narcan was administered. A defibrillator was prepared but ultimately not used, as the man began to regain consciousness during the life-saving efforts.

Paramedics arrived moments later, taking over care and transporting the man to hospital for further treatment.

Police say the incident is a clear example of the critical role quick action plays in emergencies and commended both staff and officers for their teamwork, which likely prevented a tragedy.
