Man impersonates Brockville police officer, arrested for assault and fraud

The accused was released on conditions, with a future court date set

A 42-year-old man was arrested in Brockville on December 17, for impersonating a police officer. At about 3:30 p.m., a man reported being stopped on John Street by a person claiming to be an undercover officer with the Brockville Police Service. The suspect conducted a pat-down search and asked the complainant about drugs and outstanding warrants.

Following an investigation, officers quickly apprehended the man. The suspect, whose version of events differed from the complainant’s, confirmed the encounter included the pat-down. He was arrested and charged with personating a peace officer and assault.

The accused was released on conditions, with a future court date set.
