A new fertilizer terminal is coming to the Port of Johnstown, as V6 Agronomy officially broke ground on the facility Tuesday.
Led by Ryan Brophy and his team, the project is expected to strengthen the local economy and improve the domestic fertilizer supply chain for farmers in the region.
The terminal will help reduce reliance on imported fertilizers and ensure more stable, timely access for agricultural producers in eastern Ontario.
The initiative is being praised as a strong example of public-private collaboration. The project brings together V6 Agronomy, the Township of Edwardsburgh/Cardinal, and the Port of Johnstown.
Officials say the new facility highlights the economic potential that exists when regional assets like the Port are fully utilized.
Construction is now underway, with completion expected in the coming months.
