No one was harmed, and the school resumed normal operations once police confirmed it was safe
Brockville police responded to a reported threat at Thousand Islands Secondary School (TISS) on the morning of Friday, Oct. 10 after a student said another youth was outside with a gun and planned to cause harm.
The school quickly entered a hold-and-secure at around 11:00 a.m. as officers arrived, secured the area, and began searching for the individual.
Police later found the youth and determined the report was based on a frightening rumour. No firearm was seen, and none was found. The claim was confirmed to be significantly exaggerated.
Police said no one was injured and no charges were laid.
While police encourage people to report possible threats, they stress the importance of giving accurate information. False or exaggerated reports can cause fear, disrupt schools, and tie up emergency services.
The hold-and-secure was lifted once the scene was confirmed safe and no credible threat remained.
