
First responders praised for efforts
Firefighters from all four Leeds stations responded to 33 emergency calls in just 24 hours following a severe ice storm. Most calls involved downed power lines and hazardous road conditions.
Fire officials praised their crews for their dedication and acknowledged the sacrifices made by their families, who endured power outages while their loved ones worked through the storm.
A special thank-you was also extended to Brockville Fire Department dispatchers. Handling multiple calls across various departments, dispatchers played a crucial role in keeping firefighters informed about Hydro One updates and emergency locations.
First responders across the region, including Ontario Provincial Police – East Region and Leeds Grenville EMS, also faced the same extreme conditions while ensuring public safety.
Officials commended the teamwork shown by all agencies involved, emphasizing the importance of coordination during major weather events. They thanked everyone for their commitment to keeping the community safe.
