The ban has been in place since last week
Local farmers are feeling the heat when it comes to the prolonged dry conditions which have also led to all out fire bans across our listening
area. North Augusta Deputy Mayor Adrian Wynands says crops themselves are letting farmers know.
The crops got off to a good start with a wet spring, but the hot dry summer hasn't helped. The current forecast is only calling for a chance of showers in the coming days, no actual extended periods of rain.
Wynands adds the lack of precipitation caused North Augusta to issue a complete fire ban. He says firefighters just can't chance it.
Fire bans are in place in Brockville and other municipalities too.
Anyone wondering if its okay to burn should contact their local municipal hall or city hall before they do.
