Edwardsburgh Cardinal approves 2025 budget

Big investments and no big surprises

The Township of Edwardsburgh Cardinal has approved its 2025 budget, with a focus on smart investments and improving community life.

At its March 31 meeting, Council approved a 3% tax increase for the Township. When combined with the 5.11% rise from the United Counties of Leeds and Grenville, the blended rate comes to 3.34%.

Mayor Tory Deschamps said the budget reflects “responsible financial management and progress.”

While interest revenue is expected to drop due to lower Bank of Canada rates, the Township still benefits from a $2.2 million dividend from the municipally owned Port of Johnstown.

A one-time salary adjustment is also included after a full compensation review. This will help the Township stay competitive when hiring.

Capital spending totals $4.47 million, going toward roads, recreation, municipal buildings, and digital access.

Council says the plan supports its long-term goals for growth and sustainability.
