Travellers are encouraged to have documents ready, declare all goods, and check wait times before crossing
The Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA) is reminding travellers to plan ahead for the Thanksgiving long weekend.
The agency expects heavy traffic at land ports and airports as people return to Canada and urges travellers to be prepared and patient.
In 2024, the CBSA welcomed more than 93 million travellers and intercepted over 34,000 kilograms of illegal drugs and 930 firearms.
Officers continue to focus on safety and efficiency, especially during peak travel periods.
Travellers are encouraged to have documents ready, declare all goods, and check wait times before crossing.
The CBSA advises reviewing restrictions on poultry products and knowing exemption limits for purchases made abroad.
Those flying can use Advance Declaration up to 72 hours before arrival, while drivers should aim to cross early or choose alternate ports.
For more information or to plan a trip, visit the CBSA website or call 1-800-461-9999.
