Six people have already moved in, with the facility expected to be full by year’s end
A new supportive housing facility at 1805 County Road 2 has opened, offering 24 spaces for people experiencing homelessness.
The building, once a pollution-control administration office and later a Fulford Academy dorm, now provides a path to independence and stability for the community.
Michael Barrett MP for LGTIRL said it’s not just a place to stay but a step toward healthier, safer communities.
Funded with an $830,000 federal grant, the facility is operated by the John Howard Society, with the City of Brockville providing the building rent-free. Residents are not required to be abstinent from substances, allowing flexible support.
Six people have already moved in, with the facility expected to be full by year’s end.
Barrett highlighted how this project came to fruition.
He also noted another treatment centre coming to the area that will further support local residents.
The building complements 25 nearby sleeping cabins, together forming the Pathways Cabin Program, giving residents a stable stepping-stone toward permanent housing and filling a long-standing gap in Leeds Grenville.
