Staff will ensure all visitors have safe, warm spaces on New Year’s Eve before the Centre closes its doors for good
The Cooperative Care Centre (CCC) in Brockville will permanently close on December 31, after the city council denied its final funding request. The CCC, an outreach program of the Brockville Housing Partnership, has faced ongoing financial struggles despite receiving $519,195 since April 2025.
A city press release incorrectly stated the Centre received $868,208, which included funds from the previous fiscal year.
The CCC has been battling funding gaps for years, relying on donations from the community, the United Way, and one-time contributions like $75,000 from the Sifton Foundation. Despite efforts to secure additional funding, the Centre could not sustain operations.
The Board of Brockville Housing Partnership expressed deep regret over the closure and thanked the community for its support over the past five years. Staff will ensure all visitors have safe, warm spaces on New Year’s Eve before the Centre closes its doors for good.
