Brockville is taking another step toward making its parks more inclusive for everyone.
City council, staff, and the Brockville Municipal Accessibility Advisory Committee (BMAAC) announced that new accessible play structures have been completed at three popular parks: Alwington Park, Bramshot Park, and Blockhouse Island.
The upgrades are part of a 2025 capital initiative approved by council to improve accessibility in public spaces.
The project included installing pathways from sidewalks to the new play structures, making it easier for children with mobility challenges to join in outdoor play.
Accessible play structures are specially designed so kids of all abilities can enjoy the same equipment and activities.
City officials said they are pleased with the quality of the work and the improvements to Brockville’s recreational spaces.
The upgrades are seen as another step toward the city’s goal of improving accessibility.
