For the first time ever, the Brockville Railway Tunnel will remain open past the Thanksgiving long weekend.
Traditionally, the popular tourist attraction closes after Thanksgiving. But this year, the City of Brockville says the tunnel will stay open as long as the weather allows. If conditions remain safe — meaning no heavy snow or ice — the tunnel will continue to welcome visitors.
The Brockville Railway Tunnel is Canada’s first railway tunnel and a key part of the city’s historic waterfront. Its light and sound show attracts thousands of tourists each year.
City officials say they hope the extended season will give more people a chance to experience the tunnel during the fall.
Visitors are encouraged to check the city’s website and social media channels for updates, especially as the weather changes.
The tunnel is free to visit and open daily during daylight hours, weather permitting.
