Brockville police arrested a 34-year-old man after a frightening weapons incident on King Street East early Wednesday morning.
At about 7:30 a.m., officers received reports of a man who appeared to be under the influence of drugs and was partially clothed in the downtown area. A witness approached the man, asking him to cover himself. Police say the situation escalated when the man pulled out a pair of scissors and held them in a threatening way.
The suspect was located shortly after and taken into custody without further incident. Investigation revealed the man was already bound by five probation orders for previous offences.
He now faces charges of possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, along with five counts of failing to comply with probation. The accused was held in custody for a bail hearing.
