Plan changes zoning
A group of Brockville residents is speaking out against a plan to build a six-unit apartment building on Scace Avenue.
They say the project would change the neighbourhood’s character and set a bad precedent for future development.
The proposal seeks to rezone the land from single to multi-residential, allowing a two-storey building with six units, including one affordable unit.
Residents worry about increased traffic, parking issues, privacy concerns, and stormwater management.
They are also concerned the approval could lead to more intense developments, particularly on the nearby former Toniata Public School site.
At a public meeting, residents suggested changes, including reducing the project to four units, increasing setbacks, and requiring traffic and stormwater studies.
City staff will now review the concerns before making a recommendation. No decision has been made.
The developer has agreed a stormwater study is needed and says concerns will be addressed through city staff.
