A 65-year-old man was arrested in Brockville on June 28, 2025, after allegedly assaulting his girlfriend in the hallway of an apartment building at 80 Water Street.
Police were called just after 11:00 p.m. following a 911 report of an assault in a shared area of the building. When officers arrived, they learned that the man and his girlfriend had been arguing loudly in the hallway.
A witness saw the man strike the woman across the face with an open hand. The witness tried to step in to stop the assault, but the man allegedly tried to hit them as well. The witness was not injured, and the woman suffered non-life-threatening injuries.
The 65-year-old man was arrested at the scene and charged with two counts of assault. He was held for a bail hearing and remains in custody.
The investigation is ongoing.
