Brockville homeless shelter's fate to be determined next week

November 20

After the recommendation for extended funding for Brockville's Co-Operative Care Centre was approved on November 4, the centre's fate will officially be determined at the United Counties of Leeds and Grenville's council meeting next week.

Brockville Mayor Matt Wren said the counties have been keeping the CCC afloat through the Homelessness Prevention Program funding from the province.

In terms of keeping the centre's doors open, Wren said it's very similar to the Palliative Care program, which receives little to no government funding.

On November 20, counties council will officially rule on the recommendation to extend funding until March 31, 2026.
