Bogus bill brings Brockville Police to the scene

On November 24th, around 8:30 p.m

Brockville Police have arrested a 46-year-old man following an investigation into the use of counterfeit currency connected to a private sale.

Officers were called on November 21 after counterfeit cash was reportedly used to purchase items listed on Facebook Marketplace.

Police determined that the suspect paid with a fake $50 bill and was already on bail with multiple conditions at the time of the incident.

On November 24, around 8:30 p.m., officers located the individual near King Street West and Victoria Avenue and arrested him in connection with the counterfeit offence.

During the arrest, police learned the man had also violated a court-ordered condition requiring him to live at a specific address with a surety.

He was charged with uttering counterfeit currency and failing to comply with a release order, and was held for a bail hearing.
