A different looking Canada Day in Brockville

Mayor Wren wanted to close the gap between the opening ceremonies and the fireworks

Brockville's Canada Day festivities on Tuesday will look a bit different this year. The opening ceremony will begin at city hall like always, but then the Canada Day march will end at the Hardy Park gazebo rather than Courthouse green.

Mayor Wren says thanks to A.J. Benoit, there will be live entertainment at Hardy Park in the afternoon as a way to close the large gap between the end of the ceremony and the annual evening fireworks over Blockhouse Island.

Ceremony starts at 11:45 a.m. with the live music starting at 12:15 and the fireworks are at 9:30.

Thanks to Wayne and Terri-Lyn McIssac, the Brockville Legion is making sure there's something for the kids as well with their Canada Day celebration from 1-5 p.m.

Mayor Wren says there's a possibility for the kids' activities to be at Hardy Park next year.
