This year's total is around $270,000
Yesterday, 144 golfers hit the links at Smuggler's Glen Golf Club in Lansdowne for the 5th annual Gord Memorial Golf Tournament in memory of the late MP for Leeds-Grenville-Thousand-Islands and Rideau Lakes and in support of vital local programs through the United Way of Leeds & Grenville and the YMCA of Eastern Ontario.
Gord's brother and tournament chair, Jeff Brown says its a record year for the event.
Jeff felt that Gord was looking down on everyone with a smile given the fact that the number 27 for his favourite hockey player, Darryl Sittler was in the total.
Jason Boyce of Smuggler's Glen says it's a big deal for the golf course to host an event like this every year.
Jason adds that despite a dry summer, the course is in great condition with golfers coming from all across Ontario and Quebec.
The event included NHL Alumni like Jay McClement, Moe Robinson and Hall of Famer Larry Robinson.
After two years with the Brockville Braves, Larry sticks around the area and says he's thrilled to participate in an event like this.
The tournament is approaching a total of $1 million-dollars over five years.
