UCDSB cracks down on missing immunizations
The South East Health Unit is expanding its immunization record assessments to the Upper Canada District School Board (UCDSB) this February. The initiative, which began in January, focuses on students born in 2020, 2017, and 2008 to ensure compliance with the Immunization of School Pupils Act.
As of December 2024, over 3,000 students in the region have incomplete or missing immunization records in the provincial system. Parents and guardians must submit updated records by March 25 to avoid school suspensions, which will start on March 26 for UCDSB students. Suspension notices will be mailed by February 10, with junior kindergarten students receiving theirs in their backpacks.
To lift a suspension, families must provide updated records, proof of a scheduled vaccination, or valid exemption documentation. The health unit offers immunization clinics across Leeds, Grenville, and Lanark for those needing assistance.
