Brockville kicks off early street sweeping

Here’s what you need to know

Brockville’s street and sidewalk sweeping is starting ahead of schedule this year, thanks to favourable weather. City crews will begin clearing winter sand, salt and debris earlier than usual, tackling arterial roads first, followed by collector and residential streets.

Residents are asked to keep vehicles off the streets to allow sweepers to work efficiently. The city appreciates the public’s patience as crews work through the cleanup.

Street sweeping is an important part of maintaining Brockville’s environment. Removing debris helps protect local ponds, rivers and streams from contaminants while also preventing clogged storm drains. This reduces the risk of flooding and improves water quality.

Spring sweeping operations typically begin between April and May, but this early start will help ensure the city is fresh and clean as soon as possible. Updates on progress will be shared as conditions allow.
